Why I loved Black Myth: Wukong
After finishing Elden Ring, which was my first introduction to souls-like games, I thought it was the pinnacle of modern gaming. And in many ways it is, but it is closely rivaled by Black Myth: Wukong. What's even more surprising that it's the first AAA game by it's developer Game Science, a studio that was formerly known only for mobile games.
For those who don't know, Sun Wukong is a prominent character in Chinese Mythology, as seen in the book 'Journey to the West'. My first introduction to Wukong was in a cartoon series I used to watch as a child, the name of which I cannot recall, but I do remember thinking of how cool the character was. Cut to about 2 decades later (Jeez!) and now I can finally play as him and experience the same world again.

The world is chock full of Monsters and Gods, with each of them having a cool backstory. Your goal is to fight your way through the bosses, getting stronger, learning tricks and magics, and eventually fighting the final boss to obtain a Wukong relic, which are basically a remnant of the original Sun Wukong.
I really liked the combat system, which is super easy to learn but you can also get super good at it if you put in the time, but you don't have to. And the graphics are maybe the best I have ever experienced in any game, period.

Overall this was a 10/10 game for me with the right combination of lore, exploration, fight mechanics, and graphics. I am definitely following this studio and the Black Myth series for further installments.
